The current Scratch logo
The old Scratch logo in Scratch 1.x versions

The Scratch logo is the logo of Scratch shown in the upper-left corner of all parts of the Scratch Website and applications (including the Offline Editor). The logo was changed to a simple, modern version with the introduction of Scratch 2.0, although it retains the same basic shape and orange color as the previous one. The Scratch logo is also a part of the Scratch Wiki logo, underneath the globe. The Scratch Logo was slightly changed on October 16, 2015.

Variations

In the Scratch 1.x project editor, there is a slightly different version of the logo. It is gray, to fit in with the color scheme of the menu bar.

The Scratch Wiki and Scratch Resources sites have different logos, as they are not part of the main website.

The text of both the word "Scratch" and the lower word are done in the Scratch Font.

Holiday Logos

Archive.png This article or section documents something not included in the current version of Scratch (3.0). It is only useful from a historical perspective.
An example holiday logo, shown on Christmas. The logo was made by Chrischb 2009.
Main article: Scratch Holiday Logo

Much like Google, the Scratch Team would occasionally change the logo of the website to different versions based around certain holidays. Users were free to submit logos, if the submitted logo:

  • Contained the word "Scratch"
  • Had dimensions of 198 by 60 pixels

If the Scratch Team liked a logo, it was shown on the Scratch homepage on its corresponding holiday. However, starting around Thanksgiving 2010, the Scratch Team stopped changing the logo because it gave them difficulty.[1]

On the Scratch Wiki

The old wiki logo.

The Scratch Wiki's original logo was the default logo for MediaWiki, the platform on which the Scratch Wiki operates. Soon afterwards, the official logo was changed to the text "Scratch Wiki" in Scratch font. This was later changed to the current logo of the Scratch Cat on the puzzle globe, which appears at the top-left of all pages.

New Year's 2014

The New Years Wiki logo.

For New Year's in 2014, the Scratch Wiki celebrated by changing the logo temporarily to a New Year's celebratory logo, created by the user turkey3.[2] It was a slightly modified version of the normal logo, with the addition of fireworks and Gobo hidden in the background. It was put up on January 1, Scratch Time, although this was still New Year's Eve in some time zones. The logo remained in place for almost a week and on January 5 was reverted to the normal logo.
