A mockup of a microword project.

At the 2016 Scratch Conference, the Scratch Team announced plans for a project named microwords. A microworld is a Scratch coding environment with a limited palette of blocks. Microworlds are aimed to reduce the amount of blocks a Scratcher has to dig through, while keeping blocks relevant to a specific interest or goal, like animation. The name "microworld" comes from combining "micro" and "world", which symbolizes a world that teaches powerful ideas, yet having a limited scope.
